Mark your calendars — the Stagecoach 100 is back, and we need amateur radio and GMRS operators to help in communication support for this event.The Stagecoach 100 (officially the Flagstaff to Grand Canyon Stagecoach Line 100-Mile Run, September 19–20, 2026, along a historic route: it follows the old Flagstaff to Grand Canyon Stage Line, used by tourists back in 1897–1901, and much of today's course traces the Arizona Trail. Runners start north of Flagstaff at the Hotshots Ranch off Snowbowl Road, climb a shoulder of Humphreys Peak and through the high alpine meadows of Hart Prairie, cross the 422-squaremile Babbitt Ranch, and finish nearly 100 miles later in Tusayan, right at the doorstep of Grand Canyon National Park —with views of the Painted Desert and Navajo Mountain along the way. This is remote country — ponderosa pine and aspen forest giving way to high desert grassland, aid stations spread out across two days, and cell coverage that comes and goes. That's exactly why they need us out there. If you've got a rig and a callsign, this is a great excuse to spend a couple of days in some of the best backcountry Northern Arizona has to offer. Several aid stations offer the option to camp overnight, so you can make a weekend of it instead of driving back and forth. Get a front-row seat to a piece of Arizona history, and help in a technically challenging communications environment, along with providing much-needed support for public service events, such as the Stagecoach 100.
