Our Capabilities
Ponderosa Communications Group is a multi-club communications platform connecting amateur radio and GMRS operators across Northern Arizona to provide coordinated logistics, situational awareness, and operational support for public service events and county agencies. Clubs also use PCG to plan and run their own internal and inter-club events β from EmComm drills and simplex exercises to Field Day and club meetings β giving every organization a single system for both outside coordination and day-to-day club business. By bringing volunteers from multiple clubs together on one shared system, PCG utilizes advanced amateur radio networks, digital modes, and specialized equipment to establish robust communication links when traditional infrastructure is overwhelmed or unavailable.
Public Service Events
PCG coordinates volunteers from clubs throughout the region to provide communications and logistics support for marathons, trail runs, cycling events, and more β matching the right operators to the right event, regardless of which club they call home.
Emergency Response
When emergencies strike, PCG helps clubs organize and deploy their operators quickly, coordinating auxiliary communications for hospitals, shelters, and agencies across Northern Arizona β turning individual club resources into a single, coordinated regional response.
Operator Disciplines / Capabilities
PCG's operator pool spans HF, VHF, UHF and GMRS disciplines along with the many digital modes used in amateur radio, including Winlink, APRS, and satellite communications. This breadth lets events and exercises be staffed with operators matched to the specific roles they're designed around, rather than a one-size-fits-all assignment.
